PRF stands for Platelet-Rich Fibrin, which is plasma extracted from your blood that is heavily rich in molecules called growth factors.

This magic-in-a-syringe is injected into the scalp to promote hair growth and prevent future hair loss. Growth factors are a substance pulled from your blood that’s thought to promote healing when injected. Plasma is a component of your blood that contains special “factors,” or proteins, that help your blood to clot. It also contains proteins that support cell growth.

There are three steps to our Growth Factor treatment:

Your blood is drawn — typically from your arm — and put into a centrifuge (a machine that spins rapidly to separate fluids of different densities).

After about 10 minutes in the centrifuge, your blood will have separated into three layers.

The growth factors are drawn up into a syringe and then injected into areas of the scalp that need increased hair growth.

Scalp injections are minimally invasive and relatively painless. You may feel a pinch upon injection. Prior to treatment, a numbing agent will be applied to the treatment sites to ensure your comfort through treatment.

Typically, patients who have begun to see thinning hair in small areas of the scalp make good candidates - NOT patients who have serious hair loss. Growth Factors can promote hair growth, but will not wake up dormant follicles or resurrect balding areas.
